Shhh…parliament session is on !

Yah right. My foot !

This is what I felt like telling the security people who kept hushing me from talking to my colleagues. As if my whispering would have disturbed them. Oh yah… Did I forget to mention the strength of MPs in teh parliament who would have got disturbed?

Leaving aside the Prime minister, there were hardly 15 MPs present in the whole session !!

And among those who were present, there were just 4-5 from the opposition. And to top it all, it was the MPs of the same ruling party who were chatting away to glory while a MP was making his presentation for minutes (read hours!!) at a stretch. The poor speaker got so fed up of requesting him to windup by pressing the buzzer that he actually anounced the next MP’s name who was supposed to make the presentation.
What fun !

And as soon as this person finally concluded, the PM walked off. That sure gave us an opportunity to share a joke with the MPs. Someone from opposition actually said:

Aapke PM dekho aap ko hi jhel nahi paaye

Must say that these MPs made a mockery out of the parliament session. I had only heard about the stories and seen on TV, where these MPs simply walk out or create a ruckus while the sessions are in progress. This was my first experience to catch it from my naked eyes.

On another occasion, one MP being too influenced by Atal Bihari Vajpayee, took a long pause after saying ” UPA Government”, only to have someone from the opposition to complete the sentence on his behalf with :

ab khatam ho gayi hai

It was not astonishing to find even reporters sleeping with the headphones still on !! I have my full sympathies with them. But I must give full marks to Manmohan Singh to bear the presentation of that particular MP who took ages to finish that even the speaker of the parliament lost his cool :D

Best part of the whole day excellent weather, cool breeze and the humour of our MPs.

Worst part being that it was far below our expectation. I actually went there not to see the PM but to see the proceedings of the parliament’s budget session. And it seemed anywhere but close to that.
