Why do we dream while sleeping?

Arent we supposed to be resting while sleeping? Then why do we dream? Why is it that we remember a few of them and forget most of them?

What do they mean? What is behind these dreams? Some unfulfilled aspirations? ( I am not too sure how many people would actually want to have a reality of answering a question paper in just the last 30 mins)

It seems most of the times that we are living these dreams. The fear, nervousness, even physical responses at times reflect it being there as a reality to us. havent you experienced getting up from a dream all drenched in sweat (not when there is no electricity, duh!!), or speaking a word and getting up?

Does it even occur to you that there might be another world you are living in? When you sleep here, you go there. And when you sleep there, You are here!

Freaky, isnt it? Think about it.

there was a concept that what we see in dreams are the images formed by subconscious mind… and what we dream depends on our thoughts and tensions in the bottom of our mind… dono to explain lot more in detail, have heard something similar.. lot many theories n explanations you can find on the same in the internet itself maybe… in scientific terms, you have the science psychology to explain it.. :)
