When you get a weekend off…

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

Every now and then I crib about working on sundays, and after a long time I have a 2 day weekend. Even if I have had it in the past, I have spent my saturdays out with friends. So, I think this is practically my first weekend home after I guess a few ages!!

I have done tv surfing, room cleaning, clothes washing, mail checking. I have also gone out to get some stuff and make payments. I have done almost everything I could think of. And I am bored as usual.

I want to play Mario. Want have a pizza. Want to have nachos. want to have a Rain dance. Right now.

I think I am kiddo. Period.

ICICI bank branch in Karaikudi

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

I know half of you (infact more than that) would be wondering where the hell is that?

Well it seems they have a branch there in tamil nadu which their system search simply refuses to recognise. Today I went to them to get a DD made which would be payable at Karaikudi. But was shocked when was refused by their executive on the context that they dont have a branch there. Fortunately unfortunately, I had got a DD made for the same place from the same branch (GK) of ICICI from another executive sitting on the very same seat.

I was the one who had to give that poor girl, the details of the last cheque through which I had got the DD made so that she could locate her ICICI branch. And voila she finally realised that THEY DO have a branch there, 6069, which somehow their search refuses to show up !

Words of wisdom :)

Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there…to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson or help figure out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be but you lock eyes with them, you know that very moment that they will affect your life in some profound way.

And sometimes things happen to you at the time that may seem horrible, painful and unfair, but in reflection you realize that without overcoming those obstacles you would never realize your potential, strength, will power or heart. Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of luck. Illness, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity all occur to test limits of your soul. Everything happens for a reason.

If tommorow never comes?

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

If the world ends tonight, do you think you are done for your life?

You have achieved all that you aspired for?

Kept all the promises?

Loved someone so much that it made you cry?

Made your parents proud?

Drove at a speed of 130 Kmph?

Ate some exotic food?

Had some adventurous rides?

Made people smile?

Stood on a hilltop to realise the abundance of beauty?

Stood at a seashore to capture the vast ocean?

Laughed, joked, shared, bitched, fought, madeup with your siblings?

Overcome all your fears?

Slept with beautiful dreams?

Said ‘I am sorry‘ to people it was long due?

Forgiven and let go of hurts?

Told that someone special what he/she means to you?

Finally felt peaceful?

If not, then you better be scared…

Hurry up…time is running out.

Humungous taste palette

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

I admit. I am a true punjabi.

I accept nothing below good, tasty, well prepared, aromatic, spicey, D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S food.

I so wish to have nicely made burra kababs, chicken tikka, butter naan and some curry right now.

Aah…So much for being blessed with good taste buds.

Na jaane kyon…

Dekho kaise parvat se badal gaye
barsenge yeh ab kahan
Dekho kaise phoolon se khushboo gayi
mehkegi yeh ab kahan
Sukh ban gaye sapne
Sab kho gaye apne
Dil bujh gaya ghar jal gaya
Na jaane kyon, na jaane kyon
Yaadon ka phir anchal uda
na jaane kyon, na jaane kyon

Dekho kaise haathon se jugnoo gaye
chamkenge yeh ab kaha…

Kyon so gayi shaamein
kat na sake raatein
Dil bujh gaya ghar jal gaya
na jaane kyon, na jaane kyon
Yaadon ka phir anchal uda
na jaane kyon, na jaane kyon
Dekho kaise parvat se badal gaye
barsenge yeh ab kahan
Dekho kaise phoolon se khushboo gayi
mehkegi yeh ab kaha…

Too often, well-intentioned people choose not to speak up.

Should we introduce corporate culture in schools?

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

Ours is a secular nation with a highly demanding value system. There are certain norms and ethics set for each role a human plays in our society. How well does one perform these roles and duties become the judgmental factors about his/her personality.

Teacher too, since time immemorial, has been expected to perform his/her duties in a given set pattern. In the past, the teacher was of utmost importance in the society. The students blindly followed their teachers and their teachings. Teachers too felt responsible for their task of creating good human beings out of their students who came raw and naive to them for education. They made sure that they developed the intellectual and social aspects of their personality equally. People wished to become teachers because of the respect they earned in the society.

Talking of the times today, how many out of our present generations wish to take up this profession? If the first word striking your minds is ‘none’ then it’s a serious issue of concern!
