Air Force Schools: A welfare venture

Today we were discussing about the reasons why teachers working in air force schools are not paid according to fifth pay commision rules. Since the august gathering comprised of air force administrators and principals and the head who handles the financial aspect of the air force schools, the discussion was bound to get heated up.

This is what Grp Capt Goel had to say about this issue:

We should not forget, it is not air force’s main task to run schools, its a welfare mission that we have taken up to ensure and provide education wherever we are. It is a choice between providing no education or education. If the school cant pay for teachers, or there are no teachers, I will close the damn school than to charge exhorbitant amount of fees, I dont care. Our aim is to protect the country. Our main goal is to fight war, and we very well do it and we win it too !!

Explanation

This is one thing you like or dislike depending upon which side of the table you are. The one giving or the one demanding.

When its expected out of us, we hardly care to oblige, and when we are at the receiving end, it better be given !!

Did you know?

I am not an ardent Football fan, but this little piece of information is what I found interesting and amusing.

The football used during the worldcup is from “Teamgiest” and it is stichless. Infact, the 14 panels that the ball is made up of are heated and glued together.

For every match the ball is stamped with the date, time, venue and the name of the rival teams that played in that game.

Now this bit of information, atleast I didnt knew.

And she comes again…

I dont think anyone on this earth enjoys rain as much as I do. I can simply sit for hours and watch it fall on ground, on petals and leaves, on window panes,… on me. Its just so beautiful and soothing. Listening to its music, you can just unwind after a hectic day or simply get out of your bad mood and miss and remember some beautiful moments and people.

I wonder how the rain godess knows when I need to feel her on my palms !!

Life’s Ironies

Being a teacher, I am pretty well versed with handling different kinds of students. But imagine my plight when my own teacher becomes my student !!

Beginning today, I am conducting a five day workshop for Air force administrative staff from various Air Force schools of Northern Region. I am a product of an Air force school myself and it never struck me once that my own school principal is going to be there too !!

Europe, an year back…

I just realised its been exactly an year that I returned from a month long training cum vacation in Europe. So I thought let me just put the best pictures of the places I visited (Germany, Belgium, Holland, France).

My personal favourite however remains this one…. when we filled Holland (Enschede) with the colours of India. As part of my training, I visited a few schools in Holland. And this is one of the students sporting BINDI that we gave them as they really liked them on our foreheads and wanted to have them too.

The campus of University of Twente, Holland was amazingly plush green, with some beautiful birds flying here and there.

Almost everyday after our training, I visited the Enschede market for some fun. This is one sexy car that I found there.

How can it happen that you go to holland and not visit Amsterdam, Duh !! BTW the airport is at Amsterdam. And yes, I DIDNT do what you might think I should or could have done. I remember some IIFA awards were scheduled for Amsterdam that time, when we were there. And I did see a few stars flying here and there. Details later.

On one weekend, I visited Koln in Germany. As soon as you get out of the station, you notice this extremely huge, old cathedral which is the landmark for Koln.

What I really liked about Holland was the simplicity of its houses and some pointy church tops. This one was taken in Henglo, Holland.
