Bored Beyond Belief !!

It is a known fact that Indian education system is geared towards examination. Time and again we find academicians cribbing about this bare truth of our education system. We prepare our students for meeting the final examination. Evaluation of his performance is not based on his holistic development which we boast of preparing through Education but on his rote memory and only a step further to his understanding.

But this is to bring into light the fact that even teachers bear this brunt and are not spared either. Teacher preparation is also exmaination oriented. Research work carries less amount of weightage than the written theory papers. I have to undertake 10 …yes ten theory papers to become a lecturer… oops add another paper of NET. And the very fact that the syllabus of M.Ed (CIE, Delhi University) hasnt been updated since like ages, doesnt leave me happy or amused either.

How I wish we teachers could also gather together and appeal to get a grade system� instead of getting percentages. Or even do away with this whole business of writing examination. Only difference being that our parents wouldnt join us to lobby for this cause.
